Trail Run Header-1

Classes will meet at the Hawthorn Healing Arts Center every Thursday at 9:30am.  We will drive individually or carpool to the trail head where we will begin class.

Starting from the trail, each class will run for an hour and 15 minutes.  The distance of each run will vary based on trail conditions and group dynamic.  Students should expect to run between 3 and 6 miles at a slow to medium pace. Please bring water and wear appropriate running and weather attire.

Rate: $15.00 per session or $50.00 per month.  Call Hawthorn to sign up for the next group run, as group size is limited.  541 330 0334

Meditative Trail Running is a class designed to re-energize  and relax your mental state through rhythmic movement, patterned breathing and the thrill of being surrounded by nature. This class will provide you with instruction on how to focus your thoughts, feel your surroundings and enjoy the run.  Mental health is just as important as physical health and this class will provide that balance.  Physical movement with a focus on the brain. The class will include stretching, breathing exercises, easy-paced running, some walking and instruction.  Meditative Trail Running is suitable for anyone interested in reaping the benefits of meditation while moving through nature.

A word from the facilitator:

lauren

Hello! I moved to Bend in mid-February and I am so excited to be here. Great people, great trails. I am originally from Washington State and attended Gonzaga University.  Following college I spent about three years working and traveling abroad. I am passionate about travel and will take any opportunity to see something new.

In between trips I have been busy working in journalism and broadcasting.  I love to write and I enjoy staying involved in current events.

I have been running regularly for about 10 years and in the last five I realized that running had become my therapy and my meditation.  Running resets my body and mind and put me in an improved mental state. As my runs became longer, I began to seek out trails and I found that trail running seemed to be even more beneficial.  I want to be able to share that feeling with others which is why I am thrilled to be working with the Hawthorn Healing Arts Center teaching Meditative Trail Running.
