Patty McDuffey, LAc, MAcOM, Dipl.OM

Eleven years have passed since Patty became licensed as an acupuncturist in the state of Oregon. In 2010, she graduated from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine with a Master’s in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Upon graduating, she traveled to China to complete an acupuncture and herbal internship at the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine. In addition to the academics of the internship, international travel experiences have always been at the heart of her pursuit of a healthy physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body. Since her first exposure to natural medicine following her mother’s breast cancer diagnosis (she has healed beautifully), to working in the stressful, corporate environment of college textbook publishing, to living in France and learning how the French lifestyle consists of appreciation for the present moment, she is grateful to have been guided by many wise and compassionate teachers. She has woven together her experiences, her studies, her observations, and lessons learned. It is from this collection of life and educational experiences that she draws when working with patients. She strives to understand what is at the root of dis-ease and will do her best to help each patient realize their own unique healing potential in an effort to find greater balance, peace and well-being. She is honored to be of service.

Patty is the owner of www.pattymcduffey.com, a telemedicine practice utilizing the modalities of Chinese herbal medicine, functional nutrition and lifestyle coaching. She is pleased to be able to offer her local Bend patients, at Hawthorn Healing Arts Center, a variety of hands-on Chinese medical modalities. Her acupuncture styles consist of TCM and Master Tung and she practices the Leon Hammer system of Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis. Patty received her BA from Emory University in 2001.

In her final year of acupuncture school, she completed an internship at Oregon Health & Science University as well as at Old Town Clinic/Central City Concern, Portland, OR, a sub-acute detox clinic. Patty is nationally certified through the NCCAOM as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine and is state licensed through the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners. In Fall 2013 and 2014, Patty had the opportunity to volunteer and serve as team lead for the Acupuncture Relief Project in rural Bhimphedi, Nepal: www.acupuncturereliefproject.com. She has studied and been practicing Vipassana meditation taught by Sayadaw U Pandita since 2013 and Mahayana Buddhist meditation since attending the November Course at Kopan Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2018. She considers herself a curious explorer, happily seeking to engage with the rich diversity this life has to offer.

In addition to the specialties listed below, Patty welcomes all conditions effectively treated by acupuncture and Chinese medicine (and there are many!). Please call the office if you are curious to know if acupuncture can help you.
