We need your help! For the 3rd time in 3 years the Oregon Association of Naturopathic Physicians is trying to get a bill passed to require insurance to pay NDs on par with their primary care colleagues. Both NPs (nurse practitioners) and PAs (physician associates) have laws on the books in Oregon guaranteeing them fair pay. Currently NDs are paid up to 50% less than other primary care providers, despite spending more time and working harder than most providers to help patients find the root cause of disease and to maintain optimum wellness. This is why many ND clinics are “cash only” and will not bill insurance.
At Hawthorn Healing Arts Center we work hard to be able to take as many insurance plans as we can, but it would sure be easier if the insurance companies would play fair with us!
